Taking a Chance on a Turkey

Thanksgiving Day is almost here
We took a chance on a big turkey this year
He’s been strutting around the country for miles
Conning too many with his big toothy smiles

Maybe you thought turkeys don’t have any teeth
Well this one does, a whole set complete
And he’s cocky and bright and devious too
But we may have bit off more, than we can chew

Right now he’s out there pecking and picking
I fear he may be an over blown chicken
He may have fooled some and I hope that I’m wrong
For sure we’ll all find out before very long

He has “hope” on his left wing and “change” on the right
But his wings don’t work… he can’t take flight
If the things that he’s hawking don’t make any sense
We’ll be stuck with the last part that went over the fence

My wishes to all for a Happy Thanksgiving
I hope you enjoy the lives you are living
If how I feel seems a bit quirky
It’s cause I’m in fear of this ‘chosen’ turkey

When you sit down to dinner on Thanksgiving day
And you thank God for all His blessings, please pray
That this turkey will turn out to be a good feller
Or we might wind up with severe salmonella
